Elijah will be the world's first fire poi spinning robot. He will be the latest step in the evolution of the sport. Originating in New Zealand, the Maiori tribe used balls on cords. Later, the Polynesian culture began spinning poi on fire. Modern poi is practiced in today in America and uses space age materials. Elijah will spin 14' arcs of fire, which will be controlled by the sound inputs of 6 drums situated around his base. Audio detection circuits will vary the patterns, intensity, and speed, to the timing of the drums and their intensity. The Burning Man Art Grant has been submitted, and we are continuing engineering the gear reduction ratios, and servo mechanics.
